This isn't much of an update, just a correction to the last post. My next doctor visit has been changed to March 3rd because Ben and I will be on a cruise the week that the original appointment was scheduled. As far as I know the baby is still doing well; my only complaint now is that even though I am able to eat pretty much everything, it all seems to not be what the baby wants (unless it's the junk that I'm supposed to limit)! I guess I'm going to have yet another picky eater on my hands whether I like it or not!
I've checked the pregnancy calendar and it says that for 14 weeks, which is how far along I will be as of tomorrow, the baby is about 3 1/2 inches long and weighs a little more than one ounce. It's crazy to think that I'll be able to start feeling movements within the next couple of weeks, especially knowing that right now the Blob is so tiny!! I guess everyone becomes a pest at an early age, huh? :)
Anyway, I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I've uploaded the pictures to my computer, which is one step closer to getting them on this blog, so hopefully I can get those posted before we go on vacation. After vacation I'll be sure to put up pictures of The Blob swimming with stingrays, deep sea fishing, and doing a little snorkeling and sun bathing. Oh the life, right!!
Take care and check back soon for more information!!!

Finally, Information for an Update!

Well, we went back to the doctor yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was very faint, but the doctor says it's because the baby is so small. The heart rate has slowed down some (down to 151 from 171) but he said that's normal. And I also hinted around the old "wives tale" of a fast heartbeat meaning girl and a slow one meaning boy, but he doesn't believe in that and wouldn't even acknowledge it with an answer. He said the heart rate is going to slow down even more as the baby gets bigger and the speed of it is no indication of the sex of the baby. Case in point: A friend of mine who is pregnant just told me two weeks ago that her baby had a slow heartbeat, and that her doctor said it meant boy. Well she went for an ultrasound yesterday and she's having a girl!! So I guess everyone that's been saying fast equals girl and slow equals boy is not right and you will all have to wait until mid-April to find out for sure what we're having! :)
Everything else is going very well. I'm no longer feeling nauseous, therefore I eat just about everything that gets put in front of me. The doctor told me that now was the time to start watching what I eat and to limit the amount of junk/fast food in my diet, so what do I get for lunch?? McDonalds! But it was only because Pawpaw wanted that for lunch and I couldn't tell him no! I'll start my healthy eating today (isn't that what all you dieters do?). :)
Russell seems to be getting excited about having a sibling, but only if you're talking as if the baby is a girl. Then he's willing to share his toys, buy her presents, and ride her in his Lightning McQueen car. But if you tell him it might be a boy, he immediately says that we already have 2 boys and don't need another one. And then he proceeds to say that a little boy isn't going to play with his toys, or his cars or anything. It will be interesting to see how it goes on the day of the ultrasound! We might be having a major meltdown in the doctors office if another boy is going to be coming to our house!!
I go back to the doctor on March 10, so there will definitely be another update at that time, but if anything happens between now and then, I'll be sure to put it on here. And for those of you that have asked, at some point or another I will sit down and take the time to upload some pictures of the first ultrasound (The Blob) and possibly a picture of the baby bump (but that's still not a guarantee!). Hope you all are doing well. We will report back soon!!

Love,
Ben, Lindsey, Russell and Baby "Blob" Hill
